That’s why we are excited to announce that FLECS is now part of the Margo alliance and forums, an ambitious new project hosted by the Linux Foundation’s Joint Development Foundation.
Why Margo Matters

However, multi-vendor environments introduce complexity, making it difficult for manufacturers to scale digital solutions across their plants.
Margo directly addresses this challenge. The initiative aims to define an open standard for interoperable orchestration at the edge, enabling companies to combine best-of-breed applications and devices, regardless of vendor, without unnecessary complexity or cost.
Margo’s key deliverables include:
- An open-source reference implementation to demonstrate interoperability at scale.
- A compliance testing toolkit to validate compatibility across devices, apps, and orchestration platforms.
- An open standard that defines how edge applications and devices should interact to ensure seamless deployment, management, and scaling.
